What Was I Thinking?

I need a labotomy. I really, really, really do. I got started on the crafty stuff we are giving for Christmas. But I got to thinking about how much we are going to need. For our party on the 12th I dreamed that everyone would take home a jar of my apple butter. That’s like 30 jars. I also need to make some for teachers, 2 at the elementary and 6 at the daycare. I have 6 jars in my pantry now. ACK! I may have to buck up and cut out people taking some home on the 12th, they can love the time I spend with them and consider a gift. And if they don’t, they can go home lol. No really, I have great friends and I doubt any one of them (with the exception of Mike the manwhore…you know who you are man!) would actually be mad at me. But this isn’t all. I also need a tray of cookies over at the daycare because I spoiled these sweet old women years ago and they start asking around Thanksgiving if I started baking yet (no). Nothing like a subtle hint to remind you to fatten someone up! But there is still more peoples! I also wanted to make small snowglobe soaps for the kids stockings. Add in a scarf for mother in law, sister in law, hubs aunt, and her friend (who will be there xmas morning). But I am still not done! Why? Because hubs suggested that maybe I make his dad and his bro in law a scarf too!!! And the worst part is….I said ok. Yea, I said “sure I can whip those up in no time”. Unfortunatley the pattern I was going to use I cannot find and it’s no longer free on the internet. So I am stuck with another pattern (equally as pretty) that takes much longer.

**BANGS HEAD ON DESK**

I love that people want all my hard work for the holidays. I just wish I had gotten started much sooner.

Now if you will excuse me, a scarf is hollering at me.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE giving (and receiving)homemade gifts, but man you are right. They are A LOT of work. I gave up already on the teachers…they are getting Dunkin Donuts gift cards. I feel like time slipped away from me so fast this year. UGH!

Yep, I gave in and checked out Swiss Colony. Thinking about just grabbing a few items there for people since I can have them shipped straight to Florida, where we will be for the holiday.

I VOW to get started right after Christmas with spring stuff!

That’s really nice of you though. I always love receiving homemade gifts and always tell myself that this year I will give handmade stuff but then I am too lazy to actually do it. So my hats off to you for doing it! Maybe one day I will but the only thing I really make are cookies.

If you ever get around to it, start in the summer. I am so not kidding lol. I may do some future posts on recipese and various other stuff to give as gifts. Some things can be done for other holidays other than Christmas. And if you get into doing it at other times of the year, then you might start for Christmas too.
