With the personal life and the job, I have really not gotten that much crafty stuff done this week. I was trying all last week to work with double pointed needles. Unfortunatley the ones I got I don’t like. The only ones that the yarn shop had in the size I need are steel. So all the stitches fly around and fall off. Plus I am clumsy when it comes to managing 5 needles. So I ditched that project and set to work with my circulars. I decided on making a cowl. This particular one is supposed to be close to the neck and made with a heavy-ish yarn. Well the cable on my circs were too long and I used my lighter weight yarn that I bought cause I was dying to use it for something (it’s alpaca, enough said!). So my cowl didn’t come out right. It’s still cute though.
I am making another cowl, same pattern but some changes. I am using a smaller circular needle and the cable is smaller. As of now the stitches are much tighter and the cowl loses the lacy look. Also it may be too small for my neck. Never fear, I got two girls to pass it on to. I am just enjoying playing with needles and seeing how things turn out.
I also found a way to use up the yarn I have that I don’t really have a use for. I knit them into triangles and then will sew them up into a blanket.
The pattern calls for you turning them in opposite direction and sewing up that way. However when I get around to putting them together I might see about sewing them into circles and then sewing those together. No rush on this project. It will be something I work on in between projects.
I also got my Ac Moore’s $10 off rewards coupon. If you don’t have a rewards card from them yet I highly recommend you go get one! I am thrilled about this and I plan on going over there to pick up yarn to make 2 scarves I was commissioned to make. Yay! Extra money for me!
Ok so I am going to go, I want to get a little bit of knitting done before I head into the office.
