Megadeth & A Laptop
What a likely pair, right???
So last night was the Megadeth concert. They are doing a 20th Anniversary Rust In Peace Tour. This sucker sold out in one day. Course the venue only holds 300 people, but still…..I was very lucky to get a ticket. Opening was Exodus and Testament, 2 bands I occasionally listened to as a teen but haven’t really followed. Oh, did they put on a hell of a show. Loved every second of it! But before I jump ahead, let’s show off the awesome tee I got.
And here is one of my gal Tammy who got us the tickets.
Ok so yea, I learned some amazing lessons at this concert. First off, if you are wanting to be up close and personal with the band….get in front of the mosh pit. Yea….dangerous….I know, but trust me on this. Twice the pit got rowdy enough that they pushed me forward who in turn pushed Tammy forward. We started out with 4 people in front of us, after the mosh pit pushing we had 2 people in front of us. Now for whatever reason they didn’t want any flash photography. So I had taken a picture but FORGOT to turn off flash after our pre-show pics. So security stood on the rail pointing at me and yelling. Since it was deafening in there I couldn’t hear so I walked up to them (people parted like the Red Sea, thank you people!). That got me up a bit closer and of course I grabbed Tammy when I moved. As Testament played somehow Tammy ended up at the rail with me behind her. Then Megadeth came on. Oh….oh words cannot describe the awesome show that they put on. SERIOUSLY!!! The crowd got really rambunctious and pushed hard. Several times I couldn’t breathe. I am pretty sure my back has a few bruises and my left shoulder hurts where I think it got wrenched in the pushing. I had to try real hard not to squish poor Tammy. In the melee I managed to get up to the rail, which in turn eased off the pushing and I could breathe again. Being 3 feet from Marty and Dave is like being in the presence of the divine (ok not quite so but close enough). And let me just say that Marty has aged quite well *faints*. They played songs from Rust in Peace and threw in “Peace Sells” and “Symphony of Destruction”. At the end came that time honored tradition of tossing out picks and drumsticks. Marty actually placed one in my hands….I can totally say I held hands with the man! *faints again*. After that we did Meet & Greet where I got to speak 5 words to Dave Mustaine (you guys played awesome tonight) and get his signature on my remastered Rust In Peace cd.
All in all it was awesome. I am suffering today. The neck hurts from too much banging, throat hurts from screaming, the rest of me hurts from the pushing, and I only got about 4 hours sleep before coming into work. That part sounds horrible but to have that chance to be up close and personal is not many can say they have had. And I just cannot sit in a concert. With all the energy running from band to concertgoers back to band, I have to be in the middle of that. Interestingly I am not someone who likes having her space invaded. But at a concert it’s completely different. So what if someone just touched my ass or is leaning all over me! Yea, I am weird….but you love me anyway.
So the computer. I have a new laptop! I had it financed as an effort to get my credit straightened up. I got the HP Touchsmart Laptop.
I am typing this on my work computer because I am still getting things set up with laptop and I cannot get a decent internet connection here at the office. It’s ok, I can get it done at the house on our Charter connection. So yea, I am loving it and cannot wait to get all the internet and anti-virus stuff done tonight. It will probably be completely done by midweek (hoping anyway!)
**ADDED Later on in the evening**
Took a short nap and felt revived enough to work on the laptop. As of right now the only thing left to do is get music off the old laptop and onto this one. Hubs is currently moving the files to a usb for me. Anywho as I played around I got excited. One of the coolest things is that my screen flips around and will sit notebook style. I turned on the Hulu app and played a video in notebook mode, it was cool!
I can also “write” notes. I have a stylus to write with. What I LOVE about the stylus is that it stays tethered to the computer. I have had stylus before for a phone and you had to unscrew the cap and the cap was the only part that stayed tethered to the phone. Hence I lost the stylus. So having something that stays permanently is awesome! I did find something I don’t like. HP has a twitter app and you can’t run it in the background and have other screens open. I usually have twitter in the background so that I can do other things between tweets so I just couldn’t get the hang of it. I am hopingĀ HP fixes this!
Ok I need to work on this music thing. Talk to you all very soon!
