TypeAMom Conference Pagan Panel (Revised)

Due to some inaccuracies with yesterday’s post, it has been deleted. I want to redo the post with more accurate information. Since I don’t normally delete things off of here, I am doing so this time to avoid confusion about the conference and the pagan panel. Hey, first time for everything!

Last year I helped with TypeAMom Conferenceand had an amazing adventure. Both from the first blogging conference aspect as well as the behind the scenes stuff. This year I will be helping again and at a bit more in depth. Last year there were so many people I had hoped would come out for it but they didn’t (and that is totally ok!). The biggest reason I heard was “it didn’t feel geared to the pagan blogger”. Fair enough…..so I talked to Kelby and this year we might have a Pagan Panel!  I am very excited about this project and really want to see it be successful and start a trend with future blogging conferences. The biggest thing right now is that there needs to be a bit of a demand for this panel. I am encouraging people to vote for it as a tribe on the TypeAMom Conference site. Please, only vote if you might be able to attend. If you know 100% for certain you cannot attend, please don’t vote. I want the numbers to be realistic. I could easily get people to vote for the panel and the whole thing flop with no attendees for the panel that weekend. IMHO, that would be worse than getting an honest view of whether or not you all want this.

I know that the biggest issue for many of my readers is a financial one. Never fear, I have some tips for you!

1. Check out ticket prices and hotel prices and figure up your expenses for the time you will be here. If you are driving here, consider checking out other hotels nearby, you may find a better deal. Knowing ahead of time how much you will need will help you see how much sponsorship you will need.

2. Talk to companies for sponsorship. Is there a specific website you shop at alot? How about a company you regularly do business with and have some relationship with? These are the people who can help you. As a blogger you do hold some clout and many companies can see you as a vital advertising tool. Talk to them! Show them that you can help them out by wearing a tee shirt, button, or do a blog post for them. If you are talking to a pagan oriented type company, let them know about thepossible  panel and making blogger history.

2. Go over the Personal Sponsorship Policy for the conference. You are going to be representing a company, you don’t want to shed negative light on that company by comitting a faux pas.

3. Not sure how to get a sponsor? Try this amazing site Get A Sponsor. They have posts about how to write a letter and where to look for sponsorship. Also try Blog Conference Newbie, they have excellent resources on pitches. Under the tab “Tix Contests” there is one going on for TypeAMom that ends April 5th (do it now!)

4. Hope for a yes, expect a no. Just as much as you are struggling, so are businesses. Some just don’t see the correlation between bloggers and business. Others simply cannot afford it. It’s ok, it’s not something to take personal. In my experience with fundraising, you will get up to 5 no’s before getting a yes. So go for it, you can’t succeed without trying.

5. Get a roommate! If another wants to attend and has sponsorship or is getting sponsorship consider sharing a room with her. Sponsors will love it if you cut the cost a bit for them and you have that chance to connect with a sister. On that note, consider carpooling if you can. Last year 3 Atlanta ladies had a rental car provided to them and they traveled together & then roomed together. I am sure that their sponsors were pleased!

Now one thing I must mention about my tips above, it takes work. If you aren’t willing to put in the work you won’t get that yes you desire. So really consider whether or not you want to attend and are willing to work to make it happen.

I highly recommend being here for the entire 3 days. There are lots of really awesome things in the works and I think you all will enjoy it immensely! Bear in mind that you don’t have to be a blogger to benefit. You don’t have to be a mom either. If you love social media, maybe hooked on facebook and twitter…this conference IS for you. Maybe you want to blog but don’t know how to get started, this is for you. Maybe you have a blog but don’t regularly update, this is for you. And maybe you aren’t a mom, who cares? It’s still for you!

If you are coming, feel free to post here. You all are more than welcome to use the comments section to find roommates and driving buddies. If you haven’t commented here before I do have moderation setup. I approve all comments that are not from spam comments so be patient, I will approve your comment.

Hope to see you all at TypeAMom Conference!!!!!!!
