A Day With The Kids
Yesterday all 3 kids were home from school for Easter Monday. Since I had no luck in scoring a sitter I took the day off. I will probably regret that today, but yesterday we had a good time. Started out real rough and all but once we got to have fun it was all good. Started out with lunch. I wanted to take them to a local place but nooooooooo. We ended up at McDonald’s. I narrowly escaped without a Frappe. However, I will be getting one this morning. After that we decided to check out Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Since we had time to kill we went and paid the phone bill and checked out the neighboring petshop. My kids LOVE checking out the fish. They had a cool one which I have confirmed as being a lionfish.
Then we headed to the theater to see Diary. Both my girls read the books and really don’t like the movie. It wasn’t that it was a bad movie, it just isn’t ANYTHING like the books. Or so I am told lol. Alex seemed to like it enough. We all have this catch phrase now from the movie. If we latch on to each other one of us ends up yelling “get off me baby hippo!”. Yea, you had to see the movie to understand it. I liked the message in the movie. We got into a long talk about trying to fit in with friends and being yourself. I used the examples in the movie to really drive the point home. Figured it would be a good thing in case homeschooling did not work out.
After the movie we went to WNC Nature Center for a little bit. It got really kind of hot around here so I got us some water bottles and we proceeded to check out the exhibits. The black bear was lazily laying out in the sun soaking it all in.
Molly’s favorite is the wolves. I was pretty amazed as this was the first time we got an up close look at them. Usually they are on the other side of the exhibit and aren’t really moving around. But this time they came right up to the glass and looked at us. On one hand it was creepy, on the other it was intriguing. My favorite was the white wolf.
S/he was bored with us after a couple minutes and walked over to a small pool of water and commenced chasing after a leaf that had fallen into the pool. Then after successfully mauling the leaf and was completely soaked, wolfie decided to roll around in the dirt. I am not sure if this is normal adult wolf behavior or not, but it seemed puppy like. Which was quite impressive given the size. So either it was young at heart or still had some massive growing to do!
We finished quickly because we got there kind of late. We stopped in the gift shop so that the kids could pick something out. Alex settled for a rubber beetle, Claire went with a fan because the poor thing was redfaced (we all were) and our car has no AC, and Molly settled for a mood ring. She is obsessed with mood rings. She seems to think they are 100% accurate or something lol. ANywho I got myself two things. I know, unfair right? Yea well I got a keychain that has my name on it, works on solar power, and my name blinks. How cool is that? I also got me an amazing amethyst flare.
They had tons of geodes, mineral slabs, small stones, and so on. This one really stuck out at me, even out of the 20 amethyst flares sitting there. Yep, I had to have it!
The rest of this week is not going to be “fun”. I have to take the girls with me to work as they have the entire week off and I must work. My MIL has one day that she can come pick them up and take them out so that is a releif. We are bringing my laptop and their laptop so that both girls can play online or watch movies or something. We are in crunch time so we will be working around the clock. I will probably end up back at the office later in the evening to do whatever must be done. The end is in sight, just 9 more days. After that we will work on extensions after a couple weeks of break and working on quarterlies for our payroll clients. I am looking forward to the end at this point. Between things in the personal life and work life I am running on empty. No that’s a lie, I am running on Caramel Frappe’s,
