Blog Redesign and Asheville Follow Friday
I am going to tackle two topics at once because I am a pain like that lol! No I have been working on redesigning the blog and have had some awesome peoples helping me out. One person made a banner header for me and a logo for a t-shirt which I turned into a blog button last night. If you have my old blog button (featuring a lake scene with triple moon goddess in the sky) you are welcome to keep using it or you can update to my new button which is in the sidebar to the left. It took me awhile to get that sucker made. I am not a genius at code and I was using photobucket to alter the image into a button. Took about an hour and a half of cussing to get it right. But yay it’s done! Monday I have someone helping me with banner header because I have tried and I cannot get the header customized. The code is too complicated…..or maybe just intimidating since there is much more of it involved with the header than the blog button. So anyway by next week there will be a change to the look and it will stay that way for a long time.
Ok so it’s friday and it’s time for my Follow Friday segment. Been such a long time since I have done one and ironically these are my top 5 Asheville Tweeters:
Angela3T - this one is totally biased. She is not only an awesome graphic artist but she is just awesome to hang out with. This is her personal account and she loves to check out what’s going on in the local scene and connect with locals in real life just as much as Twitter. If you are interested in hearing more about her graphic arts abilities (and you know you are) that account is ANotions.
SAFFSite – this is one of the newest Asheville Twitter accounts. SAFF is short for Southeast Animal Fiber Fair. For us knitting/crocheting freaks this is a mecca in the Southeast. It’s held at the WNC Ag Center and features classes and plenty of shopping. The tweets are centered around the event. They haven’t tweeted much but hopefully we can catapult them with a following to where they are interested in tweeting more often.
AllGoWest - for about two or three years there was a street festival just around the corner from my house. I missed it terribly. The folks have brought it back with their own flair (and ironically further down the street lol), a music festival and plenty of beer. I am volunteering in this event and I am pleased to see them utilize Twitter to garner some excitement over the event.
Scru_Hoo – AKA Scrutiny Hooligans. This is the Twitter account for Scrutiny Hooligans the political blog of Asheville. I like to think they present political issues in a fair light. Not so much biased but more about informing the public. I love the comments left as well. Some are just pure hilarity and others are thought provoking.
MichaelfMuller - ok another biased one, Michael always amuses me….even in the middle of a well thought out discussion. He writes for a local rag, Mountain Express, he used to be involved with a political campaign and still enjoys discussing politics. He has no fear (or maybe he does and hides it well) of taking the unpopular side of a situation and bringing it to light. He would rather discuss something fully and search for the answers than jump on a bandwagon. Besides cracking me up, he is one of my more deeper followings.
Asheville is big on Twitter. There are tons of us on here and we use it extensively for get togethers, raising awareness to various charities and causes, and we fight for what we want in the Twitter forum. I don’t know how other cities are with Twitter but Asheville feels so much more tighter knit as a community with Twitter now being utilized. I have so many more people to recommend locally for a variety of reasons…..eventually they will be showcased!
