Beltane Recap
Our Beltane Brouhaha weekend was wonderful. I didn’t do many workshops, I mostly took this as a chance to just relax. I even laid down for an attempt at a nap, didn’t actually nap but hell there was an attempt. When we first headed out I had decorated the car with some window markers I found at the dollar tree.
Now I love the colors of the window markers BUT, these things were not designed to write upright on a car window. It involved hard squeezes and writing at the same time. The first window on the left was ok but I screwed up a letter. The back that you see here I got perfect. The third window I did my hand was cramping by then so it got done but no special designs or anything. I then set out to get the girls so we could get on our way.
Upon arriving we discovered we were in the section I didn’t want to be in. The only reason is there is a massive hill you have to climb. The kids made trips to the cabin for me. If I could have let them pee for me that would have been awesome! The upside is, we were right by the lake. It wasn’t easy to get to as it looks like they were rebuilding a mini bridge to access the dock. But we managed to get there and the view was awesome.
The kids had a blast making friends with the other kids there. I hardly saw them to be honest. Half the time they didn’t even eat meals with me! That was ok though, a friend from Twitter was there and we hung out and laughed our tushies off. The girls’ didn’t participate in ritual the first night. On Saturday was the Beltane Rite and HP was looking for volunteer quarter callers. No one really stepped up so Molly decided she wanted to do it. Then Claire wanted to. Then two other kids wanted to. It was actually quite cute. So HP spent a few minutes telling them what to say and an overview of what would happen.
Molly is in the red sash, she was South (fire). Claire is in the yellow sash for East (air). Both of them did very well and it made me so proud of them.
We spent our evenings around a fire and plenty of drumming. The one class I did was a Tarot class because I still suck at reading. I got a free deck from it, well two. It’s called Color Me Tarot and it comes with one regular deck and a second one that you color in. It’s to familiarize yourself with the symbols on the card. Molly has claimed the set you color. I like this deck, the symbolism seems to be easier on me to understand and comprehend. I don’t like the Minor Arcana though, no symbolism to give me a clue as to how to read the card. So for that I use the book. Unfortunatley my first reading was primarily Minor Arcana.
On the final day was the Maypole Dance. I did this last year and it wore my butt out so I was prepared to let other people step in and do it. Molly did not do this one but Claire did. First they had to get it setup.
Then they got everyone into it, explained how to do it, and then played music for them to dance to.
And then it was over.
Since we had packed up before breakfast, once the Maypole was done we left. I was ready to go home and see little man and the hubs.
We are already planning on next year. I think a few more from Twitter will be joining us and we have friends with a young boy that would enjoy a camping weekend so we might drag them along.

I have the color deck set too my Mother-Inlaw gave it to me last Yule I haven’t started coloring yet but I do love the look of the deck. Sounds like a wonderful Beltane! I love Maypole dancing
