Weekend Recap

So sorry I hadn’t blogged over the weekend, I spent some time getting crafty things worked on and spending time with the family.

On the marriage front – things are being worked on. It’s far from perfect and resolved but things are much better. I can even stand being in the same room with him. We even went to a movie Friday night, more on that in a bit.

Crafts – got alot of things going on at once. Still working on my red oriental stole, a lavendar pentacle shawl, some sunny washcloths for Litha, handwriting my Book of Shadows & decorating the book, AND I am going to start sewing my first ritual robe this week.

Work – is amazingly slow. SO I am diving into some work for TedX Asheville, TypeAMom Conference, and my duties as admin for Blog Asheville (links will come soon, it’s in redesign at the moment).

So the movie on Friday night. We saw Nightmare on Elm Street. This isn’t so much a remake as it is a reimagination, and it was reimagined well. It even says in opening credits “Characters based on Wes Craven Characters”, so you know it’s going to be different. In this case different is good. They kept alot of the same elements, the back story to Freddy went a bit deeper. If I remember the original correctly, the discussion of Freddy was a simple one between Nancy and her Mom. This time the kids do their own detective work, confront Nancy’s mom who doesn’t tell the complete truth, and one even sees what happens in a dream. That made it more pleasing to the eye to see it played out instead of relayed from an adult. Dream sequences were very visually pleasing as well. They kept the element of things not making sense, you know walking down the street and going into a house and you are in a boiler room scenario. Michael Bay brought his visual prowess though, one of my favorite things about his movies. You really could relate to the dream sequences, whether or not you ever dreamed about Freddy. Now I have to mention the rumor. I am not giving a spoiler alert here because I am not going to spoil this movie….you MUST see it! Anywho the rumor, the one where people claim the movie depicts Freddy as being innocent. All I am going to say is, just like in a dream…..not everything is as it appears.

Saturday, I went shopping for fabrics with a friend I met on Twitter whom is going to show me how to sew. Hell not just that either, she is giving me a sewing machine to have at home so I can continue sewing! How freaking cool is that? Anywho we had a blast cackling in the store and checking out fabrics. I had gone in intending to get something bright and warm for Litha (a summer celebration). Instead I bought a dark navy blue that has this floral pattern on it. LOL, ain’t that how it goes? Anyway it was very affordable, I was able to get everything I needed (with almost a full yard of extra fabric) for under $20. And the garment I am sewing would normally sell for around $100. Major savings. So I am really hoping I get the hang of this so that I can continue this.

Sunday started out rocky. Things were said, feelings got hurt, and it was looking dismal. We all headed out for breakfast and things started getting better. After breakfast we went by the Farmer’s Market where hubs had me pick out a necklace I liked, then he got two because he noticed I was eyeballing more than one. Again, pics soon….I hadn’t taken any yet lol. We walked around a bit and we came to the broom shop, they have some amazing brooms and hubs didn’t have enough to get one, which was fine….I have a birthday coming lol. After that I was a bit tired so we went home and I took a two hour nap. I don’t remember the last time I really napped, I remember trying alot but this time it actually happened. I think Molly giving me a massage helped alot lol. When I got up we headed out to pick up Bojangles, we usually have a picnic lunch (dinner this year) at a park with it. We ended up at NC Arboretum and instead of going to the Education Center we went on a hike which was very nice. We have decreed Saturdays as hiking day. Of course next weekend hubs won’t be here and kids will be off at their grandparents so no family hike then. But we can pick it up the following weekend.

This week is kinda hectic with getting stuff ready for hubs trip, kids trip, my own meetings and sewing days. Right now I am going to get ready to head to the office. Here is to hoping some work is in for me!

Glad to hear things are better w/ your marriage…

You really peaked my interest in the movie. I already wanted to see it… Now I can’t wait lol.

I think I had more I wanted to say, but I opened this page up this morning (or something like that) and waited so long to comment that I’ve forgotten. Oops. I hate it when I do that lol.
