A Much Needed Day Of Fun
So yesterday we went to Six Flags over Georgia. We left around 6ish to pick up a friend who was coming along and grab breakfast. There was quite a bit of traffic and construction so we actually didn’t get to the parking lot of the park until 10:30 am. It’s usually about a 3.5 hour drive. So really it wasn’t that bad. We started out just making our way but quickly discovered the kids were getting bored quick because they all wanted to do different stuff. Our friend came along to be Claire’s riding partner for the coasters since hubs is too big to get on them and I don’t do coasters at all. We let him get on a couple of rides in the morning that Claire couldn’t get on, so he wouldn’t miss out on anything, while we did some family rides like the Log Flume and Monster Plantation. Then we had some lunch and split up. Molly and I went on the Dahlonega Mine Train, carousel, and Hanson Cars. Alex and Daddy went to the kiddie section where he rode bulls, drove big rigs, hung out in the ferris wheel and swung on swings. Claire and our friend enjoyed The Mindbender, Cyclone, Dahlonega Mine Train, Great American Scream Machine and Wile E Coyote. After Molly and I were done we met up with Daddy and Alex whom were itching to drive the bumper cars. So we headed that way and our friend called us to meet us down there since there were in effect done. The kids did the bumper cars twice, Alex especially loves to drive them lol. After that we adults were feeling a bit sore and tired, so were the kids but they would never admit to it. We decided to end our day on Thunder River. Ironically I ended up in the “dry seat”……and I whined the most about wanting to be sopping wet. Go figure! Alex was drenched and he sat next to me. He claims it was “the worst ride ever” but he sure as hell laughed alot on that ride. He does talk more about the Log Flume ride though. Still not sure if he will be a thrill seeker like Claire or a chicken like Molly.
Anywho lessons were learned on this trip. Just a few but some that are noteworthy:
1. June may be hot as hell but it’s less crowded. Definetly go during the slow months and go mid-week. We never waited more than 15 minutes for any ride (except Thunder River which was about 25 min because of an inspection that had to be done).
2. We were not allowed to bring in outside snacks and drink (kudos for Disney for allowing it!) so check out meal deals and drink deals. We got 3 sports bottles for $30 with free drink refills all day. We skipped meal deals but we didn’t eat alot due to the heat. Carb it up on that day with popcorn and not the sweets. You will feel an energy burst.
3. No matter what, bring towels to have in the car. Or a blanket. I didn’t think we would need them so we didn’t bring anything. Doing a water ride at the end of our day meant cold kids in the evening.
4. Lastly, check for online deals. Molly’s ticket was free because she won it in a contest. I bought ours in February and was able to get them at $30 each instead of the $50 we would pay at the gate. Even with the fees ($36 after fees) you save tons. We also bought premier parking voucher so we could be closer to the gate. It didn’t seem close at the time but when we left and were dragging, I was glad we weren’t in parking lot XYZ at the back.
All in all we had an exciting time. Today I am exhausted and stiff, which is ok because the kids still excitedly talk about the trip. We may go back next year. But we may try Carowinds in Charlotte or go all out and plan a week trip to Orlando for Universal Studios. With our friend of course.
P.S. while in Six Flags, I checked my email from my phone and discovered my email has been hacked. If you received an email from thepaganmomblog@gmail.com DO NOT open it, it’s spam. I have had gmail lock the account and I am waiting to recover the account. I will let you all know when it’s recovered and safe to open emails from me. Sorry about this you all!

Wow, that sounds like so much fun!! The towel advice is one I’ll make sure to remember – nothing makes for a miserable ride home like wet clothes and wet seats and tired everybody!
LOL especially a 3.5 hour drive home!
