For my most faithful of readers, I am sure I have made it clear on my nervousness to home school. I have pieced together curriculum and rewritten lesson plans over and over again and just couldn’t find anything that felt just right. I had certainly considered purchasing a full curriculum but we just can’t afford $500 for one right now. But then I was given a wonderful link on Twitter to Lesson Pathways. Since finding them I have signed up and felt like a big huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. The lovely people at Lesson Pathways have no idea I am doing this post, nor have I received anything to do this post. I simply want to share with it for any other newbie homeschooling family out there.
From their About Us page:
” Like every homeschooling family and each class of students, Lesson Pathways is unique. Our tool works to harness the wealth of educational resources available online, creating ready-to-use learning Pathways parents and teachers can use to teach their students. Each Pathway unit is prescreened and intended to provide a week’s worth of educational resources. Our goal is to help homeschooling parents and classroom teachers spend less time searching for educational resources and more time engaging with and teaching their students.”
Sign up is easy. To start, it’s free. That’s right, FREE. Secondly, you can register for an account or you can sign in with your Facebook. One note about that, it will post whatever you do at Lesson Pathways onto your profile at Facebook. I know some people are not a fan of that sort of thing so I thought I would give a heads up. Moving on, they have a section called “Students” where you enter in your kid(s) name and date of births. The Pathways section is where you can peruse what assignments they have and assign those to your child(ren). You can piece it together OR they have full curriculum that span 36 weeks to assign to your child(ren). The assignments they have cover the core subjects; math, science, social studies, and language arts. Kindergarten has a bit more than that with phonics being covered as well. Once you have assigned everything, you manage the assignments in the Planner section. You can move things around and mark them complete as you get them done.
Although I haven’t actually used the assignments yet, I have looked through them in preparation for our full school days starting next week. They do have a wonderful balance between actual paper work, activities, readings, videos and online games. This isn’t like a website that is chock full of worksheets, they really bring the vast amount of free online resources into one place and it’s just a blessing.
In addition to their curriculum for the kids, I am supplementing with a few of my own items that we have. Flash cards, home school books I had already purchased, and so on. Each morning the girls have brain teasers they have to complete. Molly is studying World Religions. And every afternoon the girls have free study so they can work on whatever they want as long as it is educational based. I feel like I can breathe now.

So glad you found me so I can find you! Be sure to check out http://www.secularhomeschool.com also. They have a TON of resources and have been a blessing on this journey. It was actually one of the ladies there (who is on twitter too) that helped me find the site with free curriculum. I am totally going to check out your blog and fan you too!
Hi, I found your blog through Mass Hole Mommy. I love what you are doing, but I am having a devil of a time finding a way to follow your blog, or get a feed. I have a similar spiritual household that you have.
