Temple Meeting & A Movie
Saturday morning a friend dropped off her 3 kids and skipped town. Before you think horrid thoughts, she came back for them lol. She and the hubs just wanted a day away so we kept her kids. Six kids is a lot to deal with. I started wondering how someone with that many kids naturally handled it. It wasn’t really bad, it’s just the minute one had a problem they all did. And instead of calming down one child I had to calm 6. And feeding is a new experience lol! So by Sunday morning I couldn’t wait for Temple.
I have to admit I have only been to Temple for social gatherings, not so much drumming and devotionals. Oh yea, did I mention they do drumming? Yep, from 10 to 10:30 every Sun morning. And the minute I was in the door I was handed a drum. I am not a drummer, never had a class in my life, and was immediately intimidated. One lady tried to reassure me it was ok by saying “Oh I haven’t either, I just do whatever” and commenced drumming out this amazing beat. But I gave it a shot and it was awesome. Not only did it sound decent dam good, it was an amazing experience. I found it to be a real energy raiser. Than said woman informed me you don’t pat a drum but you beat it. So I beat it and became exhilarated. The only thing I quickly learned is, I can’t get distracted or I lose my beat. I had to find a spot on the floor, stare, and just focus on the beat I was doing. So guess what? I am going to make drumming a daily thing around here. Granted I don’t have a djembe or doumbek like we were using but who cares? I got a boy, he will enjoy beating the crap out of it.
Our devotional was another thrilling event. I hadn’t gone to devotional before because I am really lazy on Sunday mornings. You are lucky to catch me up before 10 let alone make it to the devotional. But I think it will become more priority because it was extremely enjoyable. After that we had our councilmeeting. One thing I liked is they don’t do their meetings “executive board room” style. It’s casual, involving snacks, and easy flowing discussion. Everyone has a chance to speak and can bring things up as they choose. No hierarchy either. Someone takes notes and another goes over the agenda, and it changes each month. The meeting itself lasted two hours and it was actually enjoyable going over the issues at hand. If it hadn’t been for my butt aching I probably could have sat longer lol. But all in all, I think I am going to really enjoy being on the council.
Oh and I mentioned a movie! We went and saw Cats & Dogs 3D last night with the kidlets. I cannot say I was impressed. And in all fairness, by last night I couldn’t wait to crash. Same for the hubs. It was just a whirlwind weekend and it caught up with us. But the kids really loved the movie and that mattered most.
I hope you all have a wonderful Monday, I am actually looking forward to mine!

Glad Temple went well!! Happy Monday!

I have drums here at home but we never make time to beat them (shame on me). There’s such a great energy and release when we actually do though. Glad you enjoyed them!
