Hello anyone reading this. I am PaganMomBlog’s husband. I am posting this at my wife’s request in reference to the Time-Warp Wife blogpost and ensuing Facebook thread. I am coming from my belief system, which means from my definition of Christianity. I say this because, while I believe the word of God is in the Bible, I do not believe the Bible is the end all, be all Word of God. I say this for many reasons, but the easiest is that the new testament was created from several different authors who wrote about Jesus long after he was gone and then emperor Constantine chose which teachings were to go into the New Testament. I call myself a Christian because I can honestly say that I believe that Jesus is the Savior of Mankind and the Word of God. I think the love he showed the world and his disciples, all of them, including Judas, is the message he was to deliver. Having said all of this is simply so anyone reading this knows where I’m coming from.
It is “Christians” like this who condemn without love, who push when they should embrace, and have decided who God, in all his wisdom, has chosen to open Heaven to. This bothers me because these people always tend to jump on the wagon of their salvation but condemn all those who do not follow their belief. I personally believe that God can sort out who gets in and who doesn’t all on his own, without my input. His message to me is that I must show people the way to him without condemnation, must teach those who open themselves to his teachings, and pray for the salvation of all souls. Now, as for what she says in her blog, I would argue that she is preaching one thing, but showing her own sins of the flesh, as she so kindly put it, those being the envying, wrath and strife. While many of you of a Neo-Pagan or Wiccan faith path claim to be witches and practice witchcraft, I have yet to find one who can cast a curse that causes harm as the term is used in the Old testament and surely don’t want to meet the one who uses poisons to kill as the term is used in the New Testament. I will say that if you do, or have done, either of those things, then yes, you deserve condemnation until you seek salvation through repentance, not necessarily from my God, but from your own belief structure. If your belief structure considers these things good we need to sit down, have a talk, then I will proceed to follow the Lord’s teachings and “suffer not a witch to live” and spend my time in jail (just kidding, but you really should watch your back, as those you hurt probably will seek vengeance.) Ok, that resolves her Galatians quote.
As for the quote from Romans, I will simply say that, as Pagans, you are sinners in the eyes of God, but still would I say that he loved you so that he gave his son to all of us that we might be saved, for we are all sinners, not just in the eyes of God, but in fact, for that is the nature of being human. Having said that, let me address the Romans quote at the same time. While I may be wrong about this, I really don’t see a Neo-Pagan seeking to “cometh unto the Father”. Maybe you are seeking to come to Valhalla, Aaru, Elysium or some other equivalent. While it may not be the Heaven of God, hopefully I will see you there.
Having said all this, I will say that in the Bible, while I don’t remember where, God sayeth not to take on the Gods of the people to whom his people would have to live amongst or travel through. Seems to me that even in that statement there is room for Gods, plural, or perhaps more ways to find your own path.
Ok. I think I have said enough. All you good Christians can condemn my heresy, all you Neo-Pagans can condemn my Christianity, but none of you can take my Faith from me. If my beliefs are false I will rot in whatever Hell I envision or God casts me into, but that is between myself and God.
I will add one other comment, I find it absurd that she chose to single out Pagans, without mentioning any of the other Religious blogs in the running. Probably felt you were a small enough community to not get blasted too hard. Guess she learned otherwise. And it really helps when true faith comes to your defense as well.
God Bless

Amen! As for me, Angela is my friend. I love her as much as I love the person sitting next to me in my Christian church. That is the real Christian. Not pointing fingers and playing God. As Christians we are to love one another. And absolutely we are ALL sinners because we are human! Angela, as you know, I do not believe in what you do. All I can hope is that I will see you in Heaven when we are both gone because that is where I believe I will be. As well as, hope that you see a little of my faith or God in me. MUAH!

Chele I love you so much! If it weren’t for you and a few other Christian friends, I think that things like this situation would have led me into a really dark place. I sincerely appreciate our friendship. Hopefully you can meet the hubs when you are here for Type A!
Excellent! From a Pagan also married to a Christian as well, Christians like ya’ll that worry more about Jesus’s love, not random followers wors twisted to suit there needs, give me hope that one day we will all be able for all to respect each others beliefs.
Thank you so much for your comment. The hubs isn’t very blog-savvy but he has been reading the comments in his email and he has been overjoyed by the response.
I absolutely will NOT condemn you for your Christianity, because your Christianity is (from my reading) the type of compassionate, loving accepting attitude that Jesus possessed and wanted others to share.
This woman is one of those small minded people who truly believe that there is no other belief that is as valid as hers, and that everyone but people like her are going to hell.
Boy is SHE in for a shock.

Thank you so much for your kind words!
Thank you for your opinion. I am Pagan, but I have deep respect for Christians such as yourself. Thank you for a well thought out response.
I may not agree with all of the things you said, but I understand them, and accept your opinion and choice in path.

And that is the key to finding tolerance, the ability to say “we can agree to disagree”. Thank you!
Dear Kyle,
Thank you for your thoughtful response. I am a Unitarian Universalist who identifies as Pagan, and a former Episcopal priest who is now an interfaith minister. I don’t readily condemn Christians because I understand what is required to maintain that faith as it is required, and I am more often than not offended by a fellow Pagan who mounts the soapbox to tell me what I ‘should’ believe, how I ‘should’ represent the community. There are intolerant fundamentalists in all religions, including my own, thank you.
Most of us would never think of hexing another human being because it is simply the wrong thing to do, and there are repercussions on a spiritual level, no matter what tradition we individually follow. It’s not a matter of strength or magickal power, it simply isn’t done for the sake of decency. The majority of us live our lives quietly and happily out of the spotlight. We really don’t care what the next guy believes as long as we’re left alone to worship as we choose, in a manner that harms none.
Having said that, the Bible or any other sacred text is not a weapon. I do not now and did not when I was a Christian believe in the writings of Paul. I have personal reasons for this, among which are that I believe his zealotry and favor-seeking far outweighed his attempt to follow the lead of a compassionate Christ.
“Time Warp Wife” dropped her mask when she chose the name of her blog, because it told us far more about her narrow world view before she wrote a single word. She also showed everyone just who and what she is with her self-serving proclamation of’ not wanting to compete with her sisters in Christ” and then qualifying the statement further by implying that most of Christianity is tainted…all except her version, of course.
Thank You gain for your blog. It’s a big world and people of faith can get along if they choose to respect and honor one another and their faith traditions.

Thank you for leaving this wonderful comment. I can relate to the pagan soapbox issue, you would think a group speaking out against oppression wouldn’t be so ready to inform each other how “wrong” we are! Humans err and we see it quite often across all religions and spiritual paths. My husband isn’t very tech-savvy and was quite confused with the blogging adventure (you would think I married an old man LOL) but he did read your comment and was appreciative of it.
Thank you all. Responses positive and negative will all be well received, for the Lord guides me and holds me in his loving hands and as his follower I can try to do no less.
Well written Post!! There’s no reason we can’t all just get along. Our standard Easter joke around here is when a few of us go to hide eggs in my mother inlaw’s back yard, “A Pagan, a Christian and a Jew went outside to hide Easter eggs…”
No reason we cannot all get along. Do unto others/Harm Ye none Sounds an awful lot alike to me.
Just stopping by to say “Thanks”, the hubs loved reading all of these comments.
Thank you for your response. I have a deep respect for any person who actually follows their religion. Like many other spiritual practices, Christianity had a prophet that taught his followers to live their life by the giving of themselves to their god and others. We all need to remember to practice the “Golden Rule” no matter what god we believe in. Some unfortunately get wrapped up in someone elses interatation instead of reading and pondering for themselves.
Thank you for your comment! It’s true, we need to look at the Golden Rule and really make that a part of our daily lives. What we put out we get in return.
Thank u! As a former christian, i saw first hand what some “devote” followers call following in the ways, only to come out as hypocracy. I was raised lds and know there are two kinds of christians. One of the principles we were taught was that we believe ppl should be respected and allowed to worship “how, where and what they may”. Unfortunately, members get carried away and get a stick up their butts. It is this principle that gets lost or disregarded when members try to “save” or otherwise ostracise (spsp?) others who dont believe the same way.
Thank you for your comment. We are seeing more and more people getting fed up with the extremists and their agenda and walking away. It’s awful to have to go through that when spirituality of any flavor is supposed to enhance a person’s life. You got to be pretty angry to decide to dictate what people should think, feel, and believe.
Thank you, I enjoyed reading this. I’m wiccan and married to a christian, and we respect our beliefs. It’s really ashamed what is going on. Let’s not be surprised when we go to war over religion, look what a blog contest brings out of people. The extremist will always cause such reactions, so bad that these few cause so much trouble.
Thank you so very much for your respect and tolerance. Rare gems.
It is when we can all accept the short-comings within our various religions that we will, with humble clarity, come to fully embrace the faith within our own, quiet hearts.
I often turn to Ralph Waldo Emerson when I find a frustrated bitterness beginning to simmer [set to boil by intolerant remarks]… he said “God enters by a private door into every individual.”

That is a great quote, I may have to remember that. My usual reaction is to breathe because when I get mad I apparently hold my breath? LOL ! Anyway I am glad that the occurrence happened, it makes one look hard at themselves as well as how to handle that sort of thing.
Bravo! And as I just quoted at my FB page: “I may disagree with what you say but I will defend to death your right to say it”. That “Christian” lady didn’t got it.
Kisses from Nydia.
Thank you Nydia!!! I am glad you quoted him. The hubs is confused on all this bloggy tech stuff but he giggled when he read your quote. Then he got a bit embarrassed because he never expected people to quote him.
Thank you. When things like this happen its hard for me (a Pagan) to remember that there are still true examples out there of Christ’s Love. You are one. Keep shining your light!
That was the exact reason why I wanted my hubs to blog. I thought that he could be the key figure into at the very least reminding everyone that there are good Christians out there. I wouldn’t have married him if he wasn’t!
Your view is what Christianity should be about. I don’t think any of our Gods or Goddesses would want us all squabbling forever. I imagine that it breaks the heart of God when wars start over faith. The key to peace is acceptance and understanding. Thank you for this. Blessed be.
I love your point of view. Perhaps if more of us thought about breaking the hearts of our deities we would be slower to the anger and fighting? I think that is something to add to my book of wise words. Thank you!
Thank you for your post. I’m a Christian but respect all religions and their views. I love the Pagan and Wiccan ways, each are beautiful in their own ways. I have a lot of Wiccan/Pagan friends and love each of them. It’s doesn’t matter how you worship as long as you have a good heart. I’m Christian but I love working with energy and I still cast the occasional spell.. I have been doing that since I was about 12 years old and at 38 I don’t think I’m going to stop anytime soon.
My husband is Christian. Not a church going man, but a man who believes in God, prays at night and believes the way you do. I am a former Mormon turned Wiccan. When I started on this path he had misgivings but his support has always been unflagging. He may not fully agree with what I believe at times, but my example has shown him that I have not turned into something evil. My example has proven that my path is mine and his is his. We support each other. I think the biggest lesson we can all learn from this entire situation is that Jesus was a man of great love, compassion and worth. He taught tolerance, love and compassion.
I think it’s time for people to go back to their “faith” foundation and find out where it all began. Then tell me if you are following your “faith” as closely or as accurately as you thought.
Blessed Be.
I love seeing Christians like you. I’m so used to the kind that live shacked in fear (whom I truly feel for) or shackled in hatred (whom I both feel for and occasionally want to strangle – only in my mind, of course :-p). Thank you so much for expressing your opinion on this particular matter. It’s been so refreshing to see how much support Mrs. B is getting from varied and sundry sources. <3

You know, it’s Christians (and others of like mind… of many faiths) that give me hope for the human species. Be blessed, and know that most of the Neo-Pagan community who read her work love what your wife posts!
Thank you so much for your kind words!! I do believe that despite what appears to be sheer madness out in the world, there is an underlying movement occurring. One in which people will gather together and stop fighting. It might take something much more cataclysmic for it to happen but it will happen.
Very well said and well written. Christians like you give me hope that we can all work towards harmony with each other.
And I did read all the comments. Thank you all for the responses.
