Mabon Food & Decorating
Mabon is almost here and it’s time to start decorating the homesteads and cooking up a feast. Even though I have a recipes section in my Book of Shadows, I enjoy looking for new stuff to try each year. Thus I spend a lot of time looking for fairly easy recipes and craft projects to do. Below are just a few places that I enjoy checking out before doing a random search.
Recipes
Martha Stewart – I typically look under Thanksgiving listings for Mabon and then Halloween listings to find both Halloween and Samhain ideas. All the sites in this list will force you to do so since most don’t recognize Autumn Equinox as an actual holiday.
Taste of Home - there are menu plans, lots of recipes, and a few decor ideas. Great site to search by ingredient too!
Disney’s Family Fun - awesome list of various side dishes and main courses!
About.com - being a transplant to the south, I had to include a quick listing for southern comfort food.
Belief.net - I was pleasantly surprised to find that Belief.net also offers recipes. And if you want some healthy options then this should be your first stop.
Gluten Free Goddess - I know quite a few of my readers are Gluten Free and I was very happy to find this blog that has a comprehensive list of autumn goodies that fit the Gluten Free life.
Personal Dividends - offering three recipes that I haven’t found on other sites. The Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork sounds divine!
Crafts
Martha Stewart – can you tell I love Martha Stewart? LOL! Sometimes she has some difficult or projects that take a lot of time but dig around and you can find quick and easy if you need one.
Disney’s Family Fun – lots of kid friendly crafts. Along the side bar you can also find games and coloring pages to keep the little ones happy.
About.com - offering a long list of projects, some that are great to do with little ones.
Craft Ideas - offers lots of cool projects to do. My favorite is the how to make a template. Once you know how to do that, crafting becomes tons easier.
Family Corner - need a recipe for potpurri? Or maybe some centerpiece ideas? Lots of projects for the adults listed on this site!

Is this where I’m not supposed to use words like “whores” and “bitches”? Tee hee…
