It’s Graduation Time!
Whenever I think of graduation, I think of high school and college. I always forget about those little graduations of 5th grade and 8th grade. This year my middle child graduated from 5th grade and will be moving on to the middle school next year.
It’s a bit scary having another middle schooler in the house. She is already begging for a cell phone and talking about going to the mall with friends. All the things her sister has done this past year at the middle school.
Before I know it, high school will be here. I feel too young for all that mess!
Of course she ended up not being the only one to graduate this year. Little Man graduated from K this year as well. Which is something new for that school because the girls never had a graduation from K.
He has had an incredible year. He is reading and writing quite well. His vocabulary is excellent and I credit his sisters with that!
In my humble opinion, which isn’t very humble, I got some damned smart kids. Some of it is genetics. And yet some of it is the hard work we have done to keep them motivated and develop a love for reading and learning.
Yesterday was a long day but well worth being there. I am proud of the things that my kids have accomplished this year and I can’t wait to see what happens next school year.

I think all these little graduations are a bit silly. We never had them when I was in school. I can understand a party or a little last day celebration, but a “graduation” I think takes it a bit far.
