A Day At The Ballpark

Last week was the boy’s birthday and we had his party last Saturday at McCormick Field to watch our local minor league team play baseball.  I have been waiting for years to have a party there and I am glad we finally did it!

Before the game started we had hot dogs and cake. We were slightly concerned about the impending storm and sure enough, we got drizzled on. Fortunately not enough to worry about the game being called. After that we moved into the stadium where they had a row of seats sectioned off for us that happened to be behind home plate.

Before the game started, he also got to go down to the bullpen and get a ball signed by some of the players.

We also got to stand with the players on the field during the National Anthem. I had no idea they were going to do that and was suddenly concerned about the state I was in giving the fact I had been sweating my balls off and now I was going to stand in front of 2000 people like that. I don’t think anyone noticed LOL!

Since little man got money for his birthday, he couldn’t wait to go shopping! He started off with some cotton candy and then later we ended up at the gift shop.

All week long, all he talked about was wanting a foam finger. I am glad he got the darned thing just to save me a bit of sanity! He also got a mini wooden bat and another ball (one he can play with unlike his signed ball).

Sadly, eldest didn’t care much for the party. She ended up reading the entire time and by 6th inning she was ready to leave. So if we do another one of these parties, she will either get to bring a friend or not go at all. Everyone one else had a pretty darned good time! And I am hoping we can do it for MY birthday LOL! OMG an all girls baseball party…..that would be fun!

It is so cool that you can have a birthday party at the ballpark like that. You are a cool mom to arrange all of it for him. I can barely manage getting a cake…

Well thank you! The glory of the party was, I didn’t have to really do anything except show up. They took care of cake, food, drinks, favors, and even escorted us to our seats. It was one of the biggest appeals about that party LOL!
