Body Parts Mobile
Did you read today’s post about the baby dolls? Well now we are going to talk about the body parts mobile we created. The first thing you will need is a bendable metal rod. We got ours at Lowe’s and there wasn’t a label on it that had any more info than a barcode so you will need to ask. Ours cost about $9. You will also need a clamp to connect the ends into a hoop. You also need some thread or twine to hang and create a web in the hoop to hang the body parts. To hang you will need a hook.
So here is our hoop. You can see some of the webbing the hubs created. We added a bit more to it since we had quite a few body parts. Creating the webbing requires one thing, it must be taut! Otherwise it won’t support the weight of multiple body parts hanging.
We then gathered up the body parts.
As you can see, they have some scorch marks. We left the Barbie heads untouched to add some variety. We also soaked one of the arms in a bit of blood to stain what fabric was left. Each of the parts got tied with string. The other end of the string was tied to the metal rod or to the twine webbing we created in the hoop. Be creative. You can make it all uniform or hang things at different lengths to add some depth to the mobile. An important note, balance out your body parts. If your mobile starts leaning to one side, put some body parts on the opposite end to balance it out.
To hang, we use the center portion of the web to hang onto the hook. Since we were using ours for our porch, we were able to hide the hoop behind the eave. If you can’t hide the hoop, that’s okay! You can use this for a wide variety of design setups and maybe the hoop being visible works well in the creepiness factor.
Here it is! We purposely made ours long so that little kids can get through without touching but older kids and adults will have to touch the body parts. We are going to add a black curtain to conceal the mobile a bit and really surprise our visitors.
See? Not too hard! With three people working on this, we were done in 30 minutes. If it’s just you, it will take longer. We were able to create this and our creepy doll fence in one day.
Happy Hauntings!
