A Pagan Ritual Prayer Book
I am becoming quite the fan of Ceisiwr Serith! And this book should be in every ritualistic pagans’ personal library. The book takes you step by step through the writing of a ritual while also covering the foundations of writing said ritual. For some coming straight out of another religious order, the idea of writing our own rituals can be quite overwhelming. The advice of “do what feels natural” is all good and well for someone whom doesn’t feel they need guidelines on what to do. Many others, whom are quite used to doing what someone else has told them to do, can find some solace having the guidelines and examples to help them structure a ritual for themselves without having to conform to a specific rite that another wrote.
I found many of the chapters written for group rituals. Rest assured that by changing a word here or there can easily change the prayer or invocation into a solitary piece. And as someone whom is about to embark on the world of large group rituals, this book has helped tremendously in my preparations for that. I can realistically think about how long something will take. Cakes & Ale by myself might take just a minute or two but Cakes & Ale with 65 people will take considerably longer. Ceisiwr makes sure that you understand the time constraints when dealing with groups and doing it on your own.
This book is pretty much for anyone who partakes in a ritual as part of their spiritual practice. It doesn’t matter if you are solitary or a part of a group. It is a wonderfully, and well written, reference book for all. It doesn’t come across as specifically for any one tradition which makes it that much more appealing!
