Old World Witchcraft

Old World Witchcraft is one of Raven Grimassi’s newest work. I haven’t been a huge fan of Raven’s work in the past but I have to admit that this one is a bit more entertaining and thought provoking than his previous works. I really enjoyed the first half of this book. The insight was a bit refreshing and took us slightly beyond the Wicca 101 books that saturate the market. The new tradition was a bit interesting but I have to admit that I pulled back a bit when reading that portion. Are we really in need of another tradition? Perhaps, but it just wasn’t anything exciting for me. The second half is your typical “how to” in a 101 book. Nothing really new or exciting. It seemed like more recycled information unfortunately. This book will do well with a beginner who isn’t interested in the most popular Wicca traditions and is in dire need of some sort of instruction and structure. I think the first half will be found interesting to those who are just slightly beyond 101 and/or fans of Raven Grimassi (just because I don’t find the appeal doesn’t mean others don’t!). Long time practitioners will probably be bored to death.
