A Birthday Ritual
Materials:
Altar (outside, weather permitting)
Cinnamon Incense (wealth and success)
Gold Candle (for luck)
Silver Candle (remove negativity)
Cauldron (or metal pot to hold burning paper)
Pen
2 strips of paper
Petitioner Candle (one that represents you)
Libations
Cast the circle
Turn to the East:
The Lady Aset stands before me
Turn to the West:
The Lady Nebet Het, behind me
Turn to the North:
To my left, my Lord Asar
Turn to the South:
To my right, my Lord Heru
Face the East again and make a sweeping upward arch:
Nut above me
Face the West again and make a sweeping downward arch:
Geb below me
Face East again:
Safe I stand within the Gods
Blessed be the word done within this sphere.
Invoke Bastet
Lady of the midnight Fire
Maubast
Grant to me my heart’s desire

Lady, if you will it so
Help us learn what I must know
If my spirit is to grow

Cat with eyes of golden flame

Hear me as I call your name

To my waiting heart appear

Light the incense
Light the Silver Candle and say:
I empower this candle to absorb all negative forces acting upon me. As this candle burns, so let its powers engulf all negative energies, leaving my path clear for success.
Light the Gold Candle and say:
I empower this candle to attract all powers wondrous and good. As this candle burns, so might it purify me as I prepare for this next journey.
Light the Petitioner Candle and say:
As this candle represents myself, the humble priestess, let it be a beacon for positive energies, love, light, and prosperity. As this candle burns bright, so may the light of my journey burn bright with happiness and gifts from Bastet in this coming year.
Place the Petitioner candle in between the gold and silver candles
Take a moment to reflect on your past year. Focus on the regrets, flaws you have, and mistakes you have made. Write these down on the paper.
Then burn the paper over the Silver candle and say:
As the asp sheds it skin, so do I shed these bad habits.
Drop the paper into the cauldron.
Reflect on all things you wish to accomplish this coming year, all traits you wish to acquire, experiences you hope to gain. Write these down on the paper.
Burn the paper over the Gold candle and say:
As Bastet watches over me, so shall I gain all these good things
Drop this into the cauldron.
Raise your arms and say:
On this day of my birth, may my magic be replenished and empowered. May my body be flushed with the light of Bastet
Insert any additional divination you wish to do

Thank Bastet
Close the circle
Face East:
My work has ended, I thank the Lady Aset
Turn to South:
Lord Heru
Turn to West:
The Lady Nebet Het
Turn North:
Lord Asar
Face skyward:
Lady Nut
Face towards the ground:
And Lord Geb for their protection and guidance. Although I must leave my formal circle, I ask that love, protection and guidance I have received from these deities continue. For I shall ever be in need of those blessings.
