Online Businesses – Follow Friday

Friday, March 5th, 2010

One good thing about Twitter is following businesses. Not all businesses use twitter well but the following list are of those that I enjoy seeing their tweets or engaging in discussion with.

Fire Mountain Gems one of the best jewelry supply companies on the net. Often their tweets are about sales and videos teaching a technique. They do occasionally interact with their followers but only if that follower says something positive about the company. They are large and have a large following so having a friendly chat about a movie just may be too daunting of a task for them.

GaiasGifts beautiful jewelry inspired by nature. They do tweet about Congenital Heart Defect often in addition to business related tweets. Nice to see a company being passionate about a cause!

FaerieMade – talk about homemade goodness! She makes these wonderful soaps and lip balms. I LOVE the lip balms. She tweets often about her progress on projects, special sales coming up, when she will be selling at the downtown market (she is local in addition to online), and when she is on vacation and shipping has to be delayed.

Little Debbie - I love Little Debbie snacks. I followed them because they were such a big supporter of Type-A-MomCon. They value the role of mom bloggers in the social media world, so yes they must be followed! I enjoy hearing about the contests. I love their polls that they post, I certainly feel like they are taking time to listen to their consumers. And I love the fact that they engage with their followers. It’s refreshing to know that they care.

AC Moore – My favoritest craft store ever! I visit almost on a weekly basis and to have them on Twitter is awesome. They tend to post about classes, coupons, and sales. Even better is they really engage with their market. A twitter pal of mine had a hard time finding something and they  stepped up and really tried to help her. Often they just talk to someone, it’s wonderful!

Ok so there they are, my top 5 for this week. I follow quite a few businesses so there will definetly be more in the future. I am sure you noticed I included some large companies, smaller companies will soon follow. I am paying close attention to the date of most recent tweets. Some businesses haven’t tweeted since Dec and I won’t be recommending them as they are sporadic and I have noticed they just haven’t gotten the hang of Twitter just yet.  Trust me, I am only going to recommend people that I think deserve the recommendation!

Follow Friday – Halloween

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Its no surprise that I love Halloween/Samhain and it’s of no further surprise that I would follow Halloweeny people on Twitter…I hope. Many of them slow down the tweets until October and then pick up w/more frequency.

HalloweenHaunt HH does blog posts about events and costume ideas, all of which he tweets about. In addition HH has podcasts on iTunes.

bumpsinthenight I love their tweets! Most are tips and most are super hilarious “don’t lose your virginity in a car at makeout point during an attack on your town by demons” type tips.

jason_vorhees I am a huge Vorhees fan. And his tweets are written as if Jason actually spoke, well typed. LOVE IT!!!!

ZombieTweets  Ok so beside Vorhees I have become quite the zombie fan as well. Oh hell, horror in general! Anywho I love how ZT takes a trending topic and can turn it into a zombiefied tweet. Example: #4wordsaftersex NOM NOM NOM hahahahahahahaha omg he cracks me up!

TheScareFest – this is the account for ScareFest in Lexington KY that I have gone to in the last two years. I don’t think I will be going this year, haven’t checked the line up yet. Admittedly they don’t tweet much, usually around the time of their event. But I think it would help them to get rid of myspace and move to facebook be motivated to keep in contact throughout the year if they had more dedicated followers who were dropping the social media clues.

So there it is, my top 5 for this Friday. If you are on Twitter and are looking for some awesome halloweenish horror peoples to follow, I hope I helped!

Witchy Wednesday – Coming Out Of The Broom Closet

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Coming out as pagan is always a difficult task. Some are lucky and their families and friends are supportive. Others have a much harder time with the people surrounding them. Often you find pagans online who often ask should I? When should I do it? And the ever elusive how do I do it?

I have never really announced it outloud. My family knows and doesn’t seem bothered by it. At least they have never said a word about it. This could be due to the fact that I am not very close to them and we talk maybe a few times a year. My friends know and the type of people I tend to be friends with, it doesn’t cause any issues. My husband’s family…..well I am not sure if they know or not. I have never come right out and said it but if they did ask I would totally confess. They have seen the altar in my home but I am not sure if they knew it was an altar lol. My father in law has seen tweetdeck open on my computer at work and my name is PaganMomBlog on twitter. And I have noticed that when the discussion of religion has come up, primarily the Christian religion, he will usually ask my husband a question. Not in a snotty sort of way but that kind of way of “you beleive like I do so let me ask you”. And then again perhaps I am reading into it.

Lately I have wondered if I should come completely out to my inlaws. I am concerned in the area of work. At work no one knows. Our clientele is on the elderly side and being in the south the automatic assumption is that they are all Baptists. I know, it’s an unfair judgment but it’s habit. One I am working on. I do know that some of them are Unitarian Universalists (which means very accepting) and I know exactly who those people are. But others  I worry about. I don’t want the business to lose clientele because someone has issue with my personal life.

So why is this coming up now, after 6 years of working there? I saw the look about a week ago. One of our clients has a business near my home and often in the mornings on the way in I swing by and pick things up or drop things off. This particular morning I got there before they open. I saw our client coming up behind my vehicle. Which she was staring at hard. And then that look came on her face. That look of “oh my god” and then I could see her trying to process it ” is she? noooo she couldn’t be”. Then she looked at me, that soul searching look and it was a desperate look. What was it that caused such a look? A bumper sticker. It says “Mother Grove” and has some slogan about honoring the goddess. No pentacles, no “my other car is a broomstick” sticker….just that word goddess glaring at her. I could tell that suddenly she was very uncomfortable. I handled her the way I always had. Cheerful and smiling. I told her what she needed to do with paperwork. I noticed that normally a woman who spent 30 minutes chatting my head off suddenly wanted to get as far away as possible. I haven’t heard  anything about this as of yet. My father in law is an adorable man. I can’t imagine anyone disliking him so I think if she had confronted him he might have been able to smooth things over. But the mere idea that he would have to do that bothers me. My religious beleifs should have no bearing on how well I can do my job.

So I am not sure what to do. I have this fear that if I came out to my inlaws that it would make things bad between us. I love them as if they were my own flesh and blood and for them to be upset would hurt me greatly. I think that is what makes this the most difficult. I don’t want people hurt. And I don’t feel forced into a closet, I have always wanted to live my beleifs without being an “in your face” pagan.

And perhaps I have blown out of proportion. Maybe there is some other reason she made the faces and wanted to rush into her store. Unfortunatley experience and intuition tells me otherwise.

P.S. I will be taking tomorrow off. This week is kicking my butt and I haven’t been getting up at 5am but 6 am. So I am going to listen to the body and “sleep in” and not worry about getting a post up. I will be back Friday for my Follow Friday post.

Blogger Follow Friday

Friday, January 29th, 2010

One thing about Twitter is that it is inundated with a lot of bloggers. I mean A LOT! Before I make my recommendations, one word of advice. If someone touts themselves as a “Social Media Guru”……run. 99.9% of the time these people don’t know jack about social media and spend their time spamming people. Or as most recently, I got into a tiff with a “social media guru” who felt her tweets were private conversations with her friends. Obviously she didn’t know much about social media! But ok enough of that, let’s get down to business.

Sugar Jones - this chick is HILARIOUS! She is honest in this way that is so unoffensive it makes me wonder how one can possibly be like that. I did have a very short convo with her at TypeAMom Con and she is very bubbly. Normally I hate bubbly, she grows on you.

MaryMac - such a funny woman. Her blog is pretty awesome too. Best thing, she is totally ok when you disagree. I have mad respect for anyone who is ok when someone disagrees!

TriciaR - I lub my Tricia. We have alot in common and she is just a joy to converse with. And alot of times she is wiser than she appears!

SecretAgentMama - amazing photographer, awesome photog blog, kickass taste in music, and she is such a blast to hang with. Whether we are traipsing in the woods chasing ghosts or hanging out at TypeAMom….we always have fun!

CharmCityKim – She is everything I am not. Vegetarian (I love seafood too much), runner (i got too much jiggly), college graduate (someday), and in Baltimore. Yea, I totally started reading her blog and follow her cause she is in my hometown. I don’t want to live there, but I can re-live the memories when I read her blog or catch a funny tweet (*giggles* underwear in the backyard!). This makes her automatically awesome in my book!

So there the are. Check them out! And if you have any recommendations for me…..feel free to link me in the comments!

Beltane Brouhaha – Witchy Wednesday

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Wednesday already? Jeesh this week is just flying by!

So if you are following me on Twitter I am sure you have seen countless tweets about the upcoming Beltane Brouhaha. Some of us have decided to have a tweetup and chose the Brouhaha as our destination spot. This is an event open to anyone who wants to attend! So I am very happy to announce that I got the email that the registration is now open…..yay!

The event is fairly affordable. $12 early registration fee ($15 at gate), $5 for kids 5-12 yo, $40 for a cabin holding 2-4 persons, $15 for a single dorm space, and $12 for meal tickets. For me and the girls to go it came out to $98. Not really bad for a weekend event.  I have attended some other functions that were much more than that for just one person! Now last year was the first time I ever went so I am not really a big expert but I will pass on a few things I learned.

I personally recommend you get the dorm space or cabin. Dorm space is basically they will shack you up in one of the larger cabins with people that you may or may not know. Basically you pay for a bed. The cabin is good for families or if you know some people and want to share a cabin with. I already know a couple people from twitter are going to share a cabin. The best thing about cabins are they are right there in the middle of everything. There is tent camping space available if you are looking for something more affordable. The people with Church of Wicca can direct you to who you need to talk to at the park for tent camping info. Now the downside to tent camping is that you will have to leave the cabin area by dusk when they close the gate, that is if you plan on driving into the site area. Now if you don’t mind walking in the dark to your tent then you don’t have to worry about when the gate closes. I just hope that you can find your way back to the tent site lol.

Food. I do recommend you bring some snacks and maybe a cooler to keep at your cabin. Bear in mind there are animals in the woods. Last year we had a mouse that literally opened our screen door and came right in and found my stash of pretzels. Lesson learned! Open flame is not permitted on campground except at one designated spot just outside the messhall. So if you want to cook at your cabin, bring your campstove. As for meals I recommend that you do purchase the meal tickets. You are not going to get anything glamorous to eat but it’s not horrible either. Last year we had hot dogs, hamburgers, spaghetti, and my all time favorite….pudding from a huge ass can. You know, one of those ones you find at Sam’s or Costco. They do sell snacks and drinks throughout the day at the messhall.

So what to expect? Vendor row is one. Last year I think they had about 10 businesses with tents set up selling their wares. If you have a business you will want to get in on this event. It’s a great way to meet your clientele! And if you love to shop witchy stuff you will find plenty of stuff to ooh and ahh over. In addition to shopping there are classes for kids which tend to be craft oriented. My daughter had a blast last year making a wand and coloring her own divination cards. There are classes for the adults pertaining to various things. Some were Wicca 101, others were more deeper into theology and then others were craft oriented.  Last year I took a class to sew my own ritual robe. I was the first person who had ever failed her class. I think I felt worse about that for her than about me failing it lol. Also there will be plenty of ritual. Last year we had a ritual the first night, an initiation ritual the next night (I didn’t attend that), and then a maypole dance just before leaving on the final day. In the evening people gathered into a drum circle around the fire pit and just hung out and had a good time. That was the best part, we just had so much fun socializing! I know for alot of solitaries in places that they don’t know alot of other pagans, events like this can be a huge blessing.

So that is my awesome wisdom to share. If you have question, feel free to ask in comments or email me. If you are attending, let me know here in the comments! If you want to find someone to share a cabin space with, leave it in the comments and maybe someone else will see it and respond.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!

I Have A New Phone

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I finally got it. I got my Droid. I got it in a very round about sort of way. I wanted to find out the difference between the Eris and Droid and so while I was at Verizon paying the bill, I inquired about it with a salesman. Admittedly this was a mistake. Me in a shoe store or me in a cell phone store equals disaster. I have learned to stay away from shoe stores at all costs. However, I have yet to learn my lesson with cell phones. I am kinda like a cat. I walk in and instantly I want to touch all the beautiful shiny objects. So the salesman was ever so kind to check and see when I would be up for an upgrade. Not until November. I almost cried. I have been wanting a Droid since their arrival in October 2009. Upon seeing my non existent tears the poor salesman absolutely took pity on me and set about to be my knight in shining armor. Okay okay okay. I am a sucker and he saw it painted all over my forehead. He discovered that the hubs was up for an upgrade (I knew this) and set about to inform me that I could upgrade the hubs for him, get him the free Eris and get the Droid for myself (I didn’t know this).  Of course I had to break the silence between the hubs and I and call him asking him if this was ok. He agreed but we later found out we both weren’t understanding each other. So I got the hubs set up and walked out with our new phones.

This is the Eris. Nice phone, it is an Android phone. The biggest thing is it is touch screen only. After having a touch screen only phone, Samsung Omnia, I was super hesitant about getting another one like that. This is the hubs first smartphone. He is a very simple person. His old phone was a simple flip with a 1.5 mp camera. Absolutely no frills or bells or whistles or anything with it. He seems to be enjoying this so far. He spent a good hour going through the free apps and has used some of the features.

This is my baby. Isn’t she gorgeous? I am in love with my phone. In a very bad sort of way. Seriously, little man went to touch my phone to hand to me and I about had a heart attack. In my defense I didn’t know he was going to hand it to me. But anywho I love her and her name is Betsy. I am still getting used to maneuvering the phone. Not that it is hard it just can do a whole hell of a lot of stuff lol. So the apps I have so far are:

The Associated Press app. I actually have this as a widget on one of my screens (you can flip through 3 screens). I can go through all the headlines and then read which ones I want to read. I can also switch from national to international if I want. Not a bad app so far.

Google Sky Maps. This one is fascinating and great if you have kids around. It shows you the stars and planets and how they are aligned in relation to your location. Move the phone around and the night sky moves with you. And it’s not jerky, a very smooth transition. It’s like having a window into outerspace. Very cool stuff.

Store Finder – I haven’t used it yet but I thought this might come in handy. The app has a long list of stores (Walmart, Target, 7Eleven, etc etc) and it will tell you where the nearest one is. I think I will like this for when we travel. When we had gone to Orlando for our Disney trip we only found Walmart by accident. I could have used this to locate any store that I felt like going into.

Facebook – while I am a Farmville junkie, this is a good way for me to keep up with my feed and see what’s going on. It’s sad but now I actually talk to everyone from my phone and only visit FB on the laptop when I need to do some farming.

Foursquare – I am now a foursquare addict. The basic premise is…you visit a local business, you go to foursquare on your phone and check in (say you are there). You get points for visiting and finding new businesses. I seriously love checking in and finding out where my friends are going. I see it as a way to find out about places that maybe I didn’t know about before. There has to be some caution with this though. It is every stalkers dream and if you have a routine each week about visiting this one specific gas station and then coffee house….some freak could figure it out and stalk you. I personally recommend that you don’t check in at every single place that you visit but places that you enjoy going to or new places that you found. But how you use it is really up to you.

Last.fm – I tried Pandora’s Radio app but it never worked for some odd reason. So I gave Last.fm a shot and love it. At work I tend to listen to alot of music but it’s a playlist I created online or what I have on the hard drive. This gives me my own personal radio station based on what I like….and it changes up the songs. I sometimes find new musicians that appeal to me. This one i won’t be getting rid of.

Yarn Shopper – I haven’t used this one yet. BUT. You put in your knit/crochet project and it will tell you how much yarn you need and how much it’s going to cost you. I haven’t had to buy any yarn here lately so I will have to tell you how that works out later on.

Fandango – I have a Regal Cinemas card, so I like to catch matinees at the theater. A bit more affordable then an evening movie and I get lots of freebies. Well this fandango app comes in handy. For some reason when I decide I want to see a movie, I decide when I am not online. It takes our computers awhile to boot up and I hate calling cause it takes forever to get through the automated call. This app is much easier, I can find out movie times in about a minute. LOVE IT!

Seesmic – I asked around about this one. I wanted a twitter app so that I could keep up with my tweeters while on the go. There are tons of free twitter apps on the droid system and I was overwhelmed. Most people came back with Seesmic so I gave it a try. I enjoy it thoroughly. It’s real easy to use, I mean REAL EASY!

The Weather Channel – I like being able to keep up with what is going on with the weather. The only thing I am not fond of is the inability to see what areas are affected by severe weather warnings. Last night we were under tornado watch and flood watch. If I go to the website I can see what is going on with counties and get up to date info on where funnel clouds are spotted. Unfortunatley the app tells you that you are under a warning but you cannot see any details about it. It would be nice if I could. I am not going to get rid of this one just yet though. I will keep an eye out for one that is more in depth in the mean time.

Steamy Window – everyone has to have that one stupid app that amuses them. Really, it’s a requirement. I swear I read it in my manual for the phone. So Steamy Window is my stupid app. Turn it on and it makes the screen look like it’s covered in steam. You rub your finger on it to clear it and you can see water beads and everything. And the really super cool thing is, you blow hard into the speaker and it creates more steam. It is awesome and I seriously can’t wait to show it off to people!

Ok so there ya go, that’s what I have on my phone. ALL of the apps listed above are free apps. I don’t want to spend extra money buying any. One thing I have to say is that I am not getting on the computer much at home. Don’t have to. Everything (except blogging and farmville) is easy to do from my phone. It’s kinda nice that way cause I can break up how I spend my time online.

Oh and….the eldest is happy. The hubs old ancient flip phone is now her phone. Yep, she has her first cell phone. We have strict rules about it and first offense for breaking any rule is she loses the phone for a year. No freaking joke people. I want her to understand the responsibility and I am very concerned about other people and her phone. Fortunatley she has no internet access. She has already declared she wants a smartphone but we have informed her that when California falls off and Key West has a blizzard (please mother nature don’t do that anytime soon) she can have one. After recent events with her possibly going to Wake Forest for a week and both the girls going to Univeristy North Carolina for Saturday classes…..it was time to give her her own line to keep in touch with us. I think she will be ok with it. She is a pretty good kid.

Top 5 Tweeters

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

It’s that time of the week…..Twitter’s Follow Friday. I thought today I would do my top five from my pagan list. Unfortunatley it is NOT that easy to pick 5 because I have so many awesome peoples. And some of them are protected tweets, which means I won’t be recommending them as they must have a good reason for holding a private account. So here is my attempt at my 5. If you don’t see yourself listed, don’t fret. I will be revisiting this list again (I have over 100 in this list) and will list another new set of 5 in the future.

So first up I have KitchenWitch. She is such an awesome person. She is opinionated but not so aggressive with it that you want to smack her. She doesn’t shy away from debate and knows how to do it without being disrespectful. And if you have a question about something paganistic, she happily shares her knowledge and experience.

Next is MystStar. Oh. Em. Gee. Sometimes I don’t know what i would do without her. Always cheerful and I look forward to talking to her. She is funny, smart, and a great friend.

Fernwise She calls herself the “Judgmental Druid Bitch”. This makes me giggle! She is opinionated and happil shares her opinions if you ask or randomly if the are on her mind. She is extremely knowledgeable, think Paganism 201/301. If you are a newbie ready to move forward, she has a lot of insight to share.

WittyGirlDreams My fave thing about WGD is her tweets from work. 9 times out of 10 they make me giggle (except when she was outed, that wasn’t cool). Funny, articulate, and just all around a nice gal.

LilithsPriest I made a point to list a guy. Not trying to be sexist or anything it’s just I don’t have alot of guy pagans on my twitter list. I haven’t seen that many guy pagans on twitter honestly. Anyhow LP is a great guy. I enjoy watching him and Fernwise debate. Sometimes I jump in but I try not to cause inevitably I discovered I missed something a long while back. He is intelligent, articulate, and hilarious. I get that sense that when you have LP’s friendship, you got a friend for life…..well as long as you don’t do something to lose the trust.

So there they are, my top 5. Next friday I won’t draw from the pagan list again, I will come back to that later. I don’t want to inundate follow friday with only certain lists.

Check back tomorrow for Blog of The Week!

Ramble Ramble Ramble

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I have decided that today’s post will feature no bitching, crying or moaning. May be a short post but I am sticking by that lol!

First my girls got more college invites yesterday. This program is called Super Saturdays and is offered at University North Carolina – Asheville. All kids enrolled in the gifted program in the city schools get the invites. They get to choose a class to take and every Saturday for 6 weeks and I take them over for that class. Last time Molly did Physics. This time they aren’t aiming as high. Molly wants to take a cartooning course where they learn animation. Claire is opting for a sculpting course. This is Claire’s first year being in the gifted program and oh my is she so excited. Molly has been mean and told her she isn’t smart like Molly. While that is sort of true, Molly made it sound like poor Claire isn’t smart. The reality is, they are smart in seperate ways so I am really glad she is in the program holding her own. Anywho this program is $69 per class. We e-filed and got our bank loan yesterday so I am paying off a bunch of my own personal debt today. I should be able to pay for their classes next week. They don’t start until April or May I think.

Work has gotten busy. It amazes me how it almost seems like overnight when this happens. One week I am struggling to find anything to do and then BAM I am struggling to find 2 minutes just to pee. But this is good. I should be making lots of money and stowing some away for a rainy day. I have decided anything over my normal weekly pay (from the last few months) will go into the bank between the joint and personal accounts. That way I am contributing to both household bills and stocking up.

With the rise of work comes the lack of internet time. Since I still get up at 5 am I have an hour and a half before kids are up to spend on email and blogging. So the blog shouldn’t be affected but I might decide to stay in bed on occasion and skip out being online all together. If you follow me on twitter, I probably will respond to @replies during the work day (if I see them) but I really won’t tweet until I get home in the evening and after the kids have their computer time after dinner.

I am also currently working on a local commentary about our transit system. This will be published at Associated Content. I got in a bit of a tiff yesterday on Twitter with our transit system. I won’t go into detail but I think that they just absolutely ignore the needs of citizens and whoever I talked to doesn’t use transit to understand. Plus I was in ’super bitchy overload’ yesterday and they got a real nasty side of me.   A bit unfair and I am feeling better today so it will be time for me to be objective and maybe get them to understand what I was saying. We  shall see.

So that is all I got going on here at the moment that won’t reduce me to tears. Check back tomorrow for my Twitter Five!

Follow Friday – Crafty Folks

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Sadly, little man is sick. He vomited overnight and I am home with him today. Hopefully he gets over this quick!

So it’s that time to discuss my top 5 today. I chose my crafty list for this week. Some of these people are Ravelers and some are not.  All of them are awesome, or at least to me they are lol!

Laughing Vixen I absolutely adore LV’s creativity. They have that kind of creativity that you stare at knowing you will never be able to attempt anything so complicated lol. They also do giveaways often or know of other giveaways in the twitterverse.

Knitting Help – representatives of the website Knitting Help, they are amazing. Eager to help everyone and just so very nice. They have contests on occasion.

CraftyGangsta - who thought crafting could be gangsta?? I love the persona that they have portayed (adopted?). Check out one of their videos and you are sure to giggle.

flea_uke - quiet and not a heavy tweeter. I always enjoy when she pops on and we report what we are working on, just finished, or thinking of starting.

OfficialAcMoore – more often than not chain stores don’t usually engage well with their target market on Twitter. Some do but they are far and few between. Fortunatley AC Moore’s has selected an excellent person(s) to handle their twitter account. My most favorite thing is when they post coupons on twitter!

So there it is, my top 5 favorite crafty tweeters!

My Own List Of Twitter Don’ts

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

There are alot of sites touting the do’s and don’ts of Twitter. These are usually pretty generic and, in my humble opinion, full of common sense that we all should already possess. However, I see some things that happen on twitter that should be adressed.

Spamming then claiming it’s not spam. Ok seriously, if your posting the same tweet repeatedly throughout the day…you are spamming. One tweeter claimed s/he wanted to make sure to hit all the time zones of her/his followers. Ok, but two or at most three of the same tweet per day will reach your followers in all the time zones. Anything more than that is spam. Admit it, accept it, then stop. It ruins the engagement of what Twitter is supposed to be about. If you really want to post ads that reach across time zones, create a newsletter that people can sign up for. Than you will find out who really IS interested in your ad.

Question me on why I don’t follow back, even threaten to unfollow me. Everyone has their own method of following people. I follow the “quality not quantity” rule. Just because you follow me doesn’t mean that I MUST follow you. Sorry, there are no laws that say I have to. If you follow me, I will read your stream. I look for engagement. I typically don’t follow people who tweet and never @reply to anyone. I also read the content of your tweets. If you have something that sparks interest in me, I will follow. Ads and constant chatter about your business pretty much are a turnoff for me. That doesn’t mean I don’t follow businesses, the ones I follow talk to me about things other than business. Now if you are someone whom I have not followed back, threatening me with “I will unfollow” makes me laugh. Bully tactics never work with me. So don’t waste your time trying to bully me.

Telling me we have something in common means I shouldn’t unfollow you. I really don’t unfollow people much. You have to be doing something that really bugs me. And if I say “hey, your doing this and it bothers me” don’t respond with ” But I am mom blogger/pagan/knitter/local/anycommongroundwehave”. I go right back to, I followed you because I thought you had something great to say. I am a very eclectic person and look through who I follow and you see a wide variety of people. Don’t take it personally if I unfollow you for something that is what you want to do. I mean you have the right to tweet how you wish, I also have the right to see what I want in my stream. Telling me “By the way, I am a witch” has no effect on my decision. No, I take that back. I will be quicker to unfollow.

Tweeting alot about your sexual desires of another Tweeter whom your dating/married/daydreaming about. I recently unfollowed someone for this. Sure people get into nasty discussions or whatnot. But when you start describing your mate (whom is a tweeter) to a borderline porno status…..it’s time for you to go. I totally get the voyeurism thing, but make sure that the people you seek out to engage with are into it as well. I was taken by surprise because this particular follower was conservative and most of her stream was political, at the time I chose to follow. Even worse was using hashtags to describe her mate in a racial way. It became a point where she was flaunting her relationship with someone outside her race. That’s not something I like seeing. First off you should NEVER see your mate as someone of a race but as an individual. I don’t run around talking about my #hottiecaucasianlovah. Because when I look at him he isn’t caucasian, he is my sweetheart. Racial slurs don’t go away until we STOP referring to people by their race. Secondly, this person was falsely claiming things about her mate in regards to his race. Newsflash….a man can be well endowed of any race. And just because a man is well endowed, doesn’t mean he is fantastic in bed. It’s how you work the equipment that matters. Just saying.

Let’s share the same language! I can speak a handful of Spanish and even a bit of German. But nothing kills me more than when I get a new follower and they are from another country speaking another language. Look, I am not trying to be rude….but how can we talk if we don’t understand each other? And right now I cannot take classes to learn Russian, Finnish, and perfect my Spanish and my German. If you are bilingual, great! That would be wonderful and I welcome tiny lessons in your language as well. But if you aren’t bilingual, for now let’s hold off on the following….shall we?

So for my fellow Twitter peeps, did I miss anything?
